Is there a conflict between the light transmittance and eye protection function of PVC tempered film?

Publish Time: 2025-05-22
There is a contradiction between the light transmittance and eye protection function of PVC tempered film to a certain extent, but it is not a complete conflict. The balance between the two can be achieved through technical optimization. Light transmittance mainly reflects the ability of the film to transmit light. High light transmittance can make the screen color clearer and the display more realistic, and the visual experience of users when watching the screen is closer to the naked screen state. The eye protection function is usually achieved by adding special materials or coatings to the film to filter or absorb light in a specific band, such as reducing blue light radiation.

In principle, adding substances used to filter harmful light may change the optical structure of the film, causing light to scatter or absorb when passing through the film, thereby reducing light transmittance. Just like applying a layer of colored paint on the glass, although it can block some light, the clarity of the glass will inevitably be affected. This situation is particularly obvious in the early eye protection film. At that time, the technology was limited. In order to enhance the protection effect, the eye protection film sacrificed more light transmittance, resulting in blurred screen display and color distortion.

However, with the advancement of material science and production technology, the current PVC tempered film has significantly improved the coordination of light transmittance and eye protection function. By adopting more sophisticated nano-level coating technology and new optical materials, researchers can more accurately control the filtering and transmission of light. These new materials can selectively absorb harmful light such as blue light while ensuring that other visible light bands pass smoothly, thereby achieving effective eye protection while maintaining a high transmittance.

In addition, the structural design of the film also plays a key role in balancing the relationship between the two. PVC tempered film with a multi-layer composite structure has gradually become the mainstream, and each layer has its specific function. For example, the outer layer is responsible for scratch resistance, the middle layer focuses on light filtering, and the inner layer ensures a close fit with the screen. By rationally designing the materials and thickness of each layer, the loss of light in the film can be reduced, the overall transmittance can be improved, and the eye protection layer can be fully utilized.

The refinement of the production process also provides a possibility to resolve this contradiction. Advanced coating and lamination technology can ensure that the eye protection coating is evenly and ultra-thinly attached to the film, reducing the problem of light scattering caused by uneven coating thickness or impurities. In addition, environmental factors such as temperature and humidity are strictly controlled during the production process to avoid internal stress or optical defects in the film during processing, thereby further improving the light transmittance and eye protection performance.

In actual use, PVC tempered films of different brands and prices have differences in light transmittance and eye protection performance. High-quality products often invest more in R&D costs and use more advanced technologies and materials to find a better balance between the two, ensuring that the screen is clear and bright while providing effective eye protection. However, some low-priced products may compromise on performance due to cost constraints, resulting in low light transmittance or unclear eye protection effect.

Therefore, when consumers choose PVC tempered film, they should not simply pursue high light transmittance or strong eye protection function, but should consider it comprehensively. By checking product descriptions, user reviews, and actual experience, choose products that take both into account, so that you can enjoy clear visual effects and reduce eye fatigue and potential damage when using electronic devices for a long time.
